Turn oven on to 220C. In a medium size bowl, add the butter and garlic and herb salt. Sift in the flour and baking powder and using a whisk, stir until the flour resembles breadcrumbs.
Add the cheese and stir to combine. Add in 1/2 cup of milk and stir with a wooden spoon. Knead lightly in the bowl and divide mixture into equal amounts. Shape carefully and place on a lined oven tray. Place in the oven for 10 minutes until golden brown and remove. Using a clean tea towel, place the hot scones on half and wrap in the tea towel to cool. This keeps them nice a soft. Serve with soup or just with butter.
