Suggested Uses
Pepper adds spicy heat and bold flavour to enhance any savoury dish.
Gourmet pepper makes an attractive garnish, with flecks of colour and bursts of flavour.
It is the most popular spice and is used as a seasoning worldwide.
To maintain the delicate flavours, I recommend grinding and adding pepper just before serving or as a garnish.
Try ground on fresh sliced strawberries to add a spicy flavour.
The Variety
Black, White and Green Peppercorns are the fruit of the same flowering vine, Piper nigrum, native to India, picked and dried at different times to give each a unique flavour. Pink Peppercorn, Schinus terebinthifolia, is native to subtropical and tropical South America. Sometimes known as Brazilian Pepper, or Rose Pepper, it is a flowering plant in the cashew family and is not a true peppercorn.
For Your Appreciation
Black, White and Green Peppercorns are the fruit of the same flowering vine, native to India, picked and dried at different times to give each a unique flavour. Pink are not a true peppercorn, but are the berry of a tree in the Cashew family. Black Peppercorns are bold and pungent, White are hot and sharp, Green adds freshness and pink gives a spicy-sweet floral flavour. Combined they are an attractive coloured garnish and a well balanced pepper blend, more delicate and complex than black pepper alone, for connoisseurs of fresh pepper.
Pepper is the most widely used seasoning in the world, used since ancient times when it was traded as a currency. It adds exotic flavour and aroma to almost any dish.
