High in volatile oils, these seeds are big on flavour so a little goes a long way.
Whole spices retain better flavour than ground. Store in the closed ziplock bag until needed and grind using a coffee grinder or mortar and pestle.
The Variety
Caraway is also known as Persian cumin. Caraway seeds are actually the fruit of Carum carvi, in the same family as carrot, cumin, coriander, celery & parsley, native to Central Europe.For Your Appreciation
Caraway seeds have a pungent earthy anise-like flavour and lightens the flavour of hearty foods like spare ribs, roast goose, pork, mutton, oxtail stew & hearty meat dishes.
