Our Sourcing Promise

We know that food tastes better naturally, which is why we go to great lengths to ensure that all the ingredients in Mrs Rogers products come from ethical and sustainable sources where we can verify their provenance and growing and production standards.

For our herbs and spices, we go as far as to track the batch by code so you can learn more about exactly where your favourites come from.

At Mrs Rogers we believe we have a duty to stay at the forefront of initiatives that take care of our planet as well as the people we help feed. That's why for 20 years, we have ensured both that our ingredients come from accredited sustainable plantations and that our products are packaged in the least harmful way possible.

Adopting natural, unbleached card, vegetable inks and home compostable bags for our herbs and spices has seen us become the undisputed leaders in our category, minimising our footprint while ensuring that the taste of our ingredients remains fresh and perfect for you to use at home.

We know there's always more to do in this space, and that we are not perfect, but as the market leaders we are proud of the impact we've had and continue to have every day.

Our Packaging

You'll recognise us by our distinctive little card boxes. As well as being an important identifier of the Mrs Rogers brand on the store shelf, they help minimise our negative impact on the environment.

Wherever we can guarantee the quality of the products we deliver to you, we will use home compostable bags or card. At times where product integrity cannot be ensured this way, we opt for the next-best solutions, such as recycled soft plastics, or glass and tin for our herb shaker jars.

Food waste isn't good for our environment either, and sometimes there's a trade-off between preserving the product naturally and the packaging format we can access. We do not hide this, but we are always endeavouring to improve where our first preference is not suitable – or hasn't been invented yet!

Composting: The Simple Solution for a Greener Planet

Composting is one of the most eco-friendly ways to manage food waste, reducing the amount that ends up in landfills while also cutting greenhouse gas emissions like methane, a major contributor to global warming. By decreasing our reliance on landfills, composting encourages a more sustainable approach to waste management and even fosters eco-conscious habits, such as reducing disposable packaging.

Beyond environmental benefits, composting saves money—less waste disposal means lower costs, and the nutrient-rich soil it produces can nourish home gardens. Finally, composting helps clean up communities by reducing waste, promoting sustainable packaging, and lessening our dependence on harmful single-use plastics.

What's eco-friendly about Mrs Rogers eco-packaging?

Mrs Rogers Home Compostable packaging is working to meet the requirements for compostable packaging set by NZ Packaging Forum Industry Group. This means that when you're shopping with Mrs Rogers, you can shop with confidence knowing that we're doing what we can to protect the environment.

Biodegradable: Our eco packaging is made from plants, not plastic, so it will biodegrade in your home compost bin. Unlike oil based plastics, our eco-friendly home compostable packaging doesn't require the use of non-renewable resources.

Compostable: The eco-container and eco-labels are certified to meet the new NZ Packaging Standards for "Home Compostable" - so you can now compost your food waste with all of your other organic material at home. Not only that, but we designed our eco-packaging to replace a number of our existing plastic products (like single use soft-plastics), which means you're using less plastic overall when shopping with us (win!).

Sustainable: The eco-packaging is made from plants, so, unlike oil based plastics, it doesn't require the use of non-renewable resources.
