Beef Lasagne

Lasagne is one of those meals that everyone loves. Whether you make it for your family, to take to a sick friend or just to cut up and freeze for your lunches, it’s always good to have the basic traditional recipe handy!

 500g Beef Mince
 1 Onion, peeled and diced
 2 Carrots, peeled and diced
 1 stick Celery, sliced
The stem of Broccoli and/or Cauliflower, diced
 2 Garlic Cloves, peeled
 1 1/2 cups Beef Stock
 1 can Tomatoes
 3 large Tbsp Tomato Paste
2 Tbsp Mrs Rogers Italian Herbs
 60g Butter
 1/4 cup Flour
 2 cups Milk
 1/2 cup Tasty Cheese, grated
 10-12 Lasagne Sheets
 1/2 cup Mozzarella Cheese, grated
 1/2 cup Tasty Cheese, grated
 Salt and Pepper to taste

1

Heat the mince on a medium heat, braking it apart as it cooks. In a blender, add the onion, carrots, celery, broccoli, cauliflower, garlic and beef stock and blend until smooth. Add to the cooked mince. Add the tomato paste, canned tomatoes and Mrs Rogers Italian Herbs. Continue to cook until tasty. Add salt and pepper if you wish.

2

Melt the butter in a pot and stir in the flour. Add 1 cup of milk and stir. Add the other cup of milk and continue to cook until the sauce is shining and no longer thickening. Add 1/2 cup of tasty cheese and stir until the cheese has melted into the sauce. Taste and add salt and pepper.

3

Grease a lasagne dish. Preheat oven to 180°C Layer the bottom of the dish with the lasagne sheets. Spoon some of the meat sauce onto and then some of the cheese sauce. Add another layer of pasta and again with the meat and cheese sauce. Add a top layer with a little more meat and cheese sauce and then top with the mozzarella and the extra tasty cheese. Cook for 30-40 minutes until the pasta is cooked and the cheese on top has become crispy.
