Garlic is widely used around the world for its pungent flavour as a seasoning or condiment.

The cloves have a characteristic pungent, spicy flavor that mellows and sweetens considerably with cooking.

Suggested Uses

A fourite in the kitchen. Add to butter or oil and use on bread, seafood veges and meats and add to casseroles and stews. Can be used with any meat , with veges or eaten on its own. Also can be added to sauces, stocks soups, and bread crumbs. Aioli, garlic mixed with egg yolks and olive oil . Tzatziki, yogurt mixed with garlic and salt is a common sauce in Eastern Mediterranean cuisines.

The Variety

Garlic is a cultivar of Allium sativum, it is a species in the onion genus.
Its close relatives include the onion, shallot, leek, chive and chinese garlic.
